About OppaNews

Why did I start OppaNews?

My name is Milla (Lyudmila Filatova). I speak Russian, English, Esperanto (was teaching Esperanto in Moscow, Soviet Union), understand some Polish and some Eastern European languages (Slavic). I was also an accountant, tax preparer in the past, now full time homemaker and mother of two active teenage boys. I am spending a lot of time educating our two teenage sons in addition to the everyday family chores, responsibilities and , of course, continuing education of myself and pursuing my interests in many areas. I have certificate of "Family Herbalist" and grow different perennial plants (flowers, herbs), and advise the oldest son how to work with the plants. At the age of 12 y.o. he built a website - http://www.plantsale.weebly.com You can see the pictures, descriptions and price-list of plants that we have in our backyard.

And at 13 y.o. he built for us the other website: http://www.rentflorida.weebly.com You can see the pictures and descriptions of our two rental properties in FL (which are for sale now) and their exact location on the maps. Our boys (16 and 17.5 y.o.) also take orders for building websites for other people or businesses as student projects. They also can assemble computers with very high memory and the total cost of the parts and labor will be less than people could pay in the stores for a compatible computers. Both of our sons play musical instruments. The oldest son plays piano-accordion and viola. The youngest son who went through the educational program for gifted students plays piano-accordion and violin and was recently accepted in University of WI Parkside community orchestra after his nomination as exemplary soloist violin player at the state competition in University of WI Parkside  https://www.uwp.edu/   http://wsmamusic.org/files/2016/05/ExempSolo_byZip.pdf (see p.5).

Milla works part time in consultative sales field. Also she is researching social nets (Facebook, Linkedin, Odnoklassniki, etc.), finding truthful information about domestic and international policies and spreading the truth so much needed in the time when local mass media prefers do not cover important world events or in their covering often distorts them by showing only one side' opinion, through the recently built by the 17 y.o. son www.oppanews.com

You can see what Milla shares on her professional profile on Linkedin (she has more than 500 professional connections there and more than 1,500 followers after posting a few articles and participating in multiple discussions in different groups):  https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/eaten-fruits-knowledge-shape-your-identity-lyudmila-filatova?trk=prof-post

If you would like to read Milla's and her husband Alex's recent interviews (and other participants in the project) to the "Voice of Russia" online radio/newspaper (in English), you can click on the link http://english.ruvr.ru/expats-8/  (or http://sputniknews.com/voiceofrussia//expats-8/), (http://english.ruvr.ru/expats-6/ , forwarded to us by the American correspondent Sarah Neary from Russia (journalist for "Voice of Russia" in Moscow). This was a big "Voice of Russia" project of interviewing Americans who lived in Russia for more than 10 years and Russians who lived in America for more than 10 years. They expressed interesting opinions about both countries (in comparison) and their differences in culture, traditions and way of life.

The goal of this media is only to provide truthful information.  I, as many others, don't trust Zionist neocon controlled Western mass media's  'news information'.
Did you know that it is now considered "anti-Semitic" if you:

Old reporters and editors like to quote the line that the mission of journalism is to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."  The first thing mainstream journalism needs to do is to stop shooting itself in the foot. As it is widely known the MAINSTREAM MEDIA only report what they are suppose to report.  News sources speak for the 5% - see  http://www.alternet.org/media/8-things-mainstream-media-doesnt-have-courage-tell-you. Gallup says the percentage of people placing a "great deal" or a "fair" amount of trust in mass media fell to 40 % in 2014, down from 55 % in 1999. Even worse, faith in the media among 18-to-29 year olds – millennials — is a dismal 12 percent, according to a recent survey by the Harvard Institute of Politics. These numbers are a reminder that journalists can’t afford to take anything for granted.

-  Al Jazeera America’s Antony Michels. "I’m hoping this latest crisis of confidence has the effect that a mild heart attack often has on a man in middle age: it forces him to take stock and re-evaluate the way he’s been living and take steps to make himself healthy again. Like eating better and exercising more. For TV journalists, the first step is to remember that verifying the facts is the single most important part of what we do. Don’t say it, report it or write it unless you’ve confirmed it. Question everything and everyone; especially your sources. That sounds obvious, but the failure to do it can jeopardize your reputation and sully the news organization that employs you.

Restoring the TV journalist’s reputational health also requires a renewed commitment to doing everything possible to avoid the appearance of conflicts of interest and bias. If you’re covering politicians, then you don’t contribute money to political campaigns. If you’re covering General Electric, you shouldn’t be in a position to benefit directly from movement in the company’s stock price. If you work for a news organization owned by a Middle Eastern country and decide to report on that country, you better have all sides of the story, regardless of how that makes the country look. It’s how you look to your audience that matters. The point is to respect the ethical lines and let your audience know you take their trust in your objectivity as seriously as you take your commitment to telling stories that are based on confirmed facts.

And we can’t pretend the Internet and mobile devices haven’t upended the economic model upon which mainstream TV media depended for decades. It’s a brave new world where only the nimble survive and where we have to adapt to changing technology, shrinking attention spans and innumerable new ways that audiences can choose to spend time and money. The need for credible, intelligent news and analysis has only increased with the number of new threats to our prosperity, safety and security.

Viewers and readers need reliable news and information more than ever as they face a world where Wall Street bankers can destroy the economy with arcane financial products, where global warming threatens our environment and where ISIL brings new levels of instability to the Middle East. The public needs a vigorous adult in the room to curate what people need to know about these and other important subjects, even if they’d rather watch cat videos, read celebrity gossip or play video games. Serious news organizations have the potential to be that adult. But only if we take the steps to get ethically healthy, earn the public’s trust and really act like adults."

We don’t have the KGB on our neck, but the end result comes out pretty much the same.  Journalists who have independent ideas or who think the wrong kind of thoughts are cut out (see http://www.chomsky.info/articles/199710--.htm)  The first victim in any conflict is the TRUTH.

- Mohamed Bile Osman:" Truth is the worst enemy of injustice and greed whose lifeline are deception and corruption which in turn flourish on swamp of violence and destruction of human race for the profit of few self centered greed-maniac individuals without eyes, ears and heart to see, hear and understand their acts of evil and transgression for their abundant love of wealth and greed. Unfortunately the Truth remains one of fierce avenger throughout the history of this world since the begin of life."

- Michael Bazeley:"The Left doesn't have a monopoly on truth. The Right has just as much been betrayed and co-opted by capitalism, to which it is seen as synonymous, in much the same way as workers have been shafted by likewise corrupted unions. Notions of Left and Right are now as quaint and obsolete as the Cold War, Blue and Red states - or Democracy itself. The gloves are almost off, once again, at the Bourgeois end of what is a centuries-old class war and we're headed back to serfdom if the 99% continue to be divided and deluded and the 1%'s uniformed drones, lackeys and lickspittles continue to be seduced by the crumbs from their table."

According to Churchill, "The truth is such a fragile flower. The truth is so precious, it must be given a BODYGUARD OF LIES." There is a distinct difference between Weapons of Mass Information (WMI) and Weapons of Mass Disinformation (WMD).  WMI = When the White House provides social media evidence to dispel darkness and lies. WMD = When the Russians provide hard evidence (Satellite Data) or demand hard evidence, some of which may have mysterious disappeared, e.g. ATC Kiev transcript. Hope that clarifies things. And I am not 'Psaking' here.  I think the conflation of the two provides WMC = Weapons of Mass Confusion, the intended consequence of any government communication program these days. The only thing that is transparent these days is my front window and that needs cleaning, as somebody said...  It would really take genius to elevate Western geopolitical pontification from the level of gutter propaganda to something approaching "a little credible."
Vadim Bystritski, l’Académie de Versailles: "It's been often said that in journalism you either prostitute yourself, or you are unemployed; and if we were to invent some kind of a grapho-erotic metrics and then apply it to Spiegel, we would notice that from hard it has turned to soft."

- Voltaire:"History is a pack of lies we play on the dead".
If you had any idea about history you would figure long time ago that for the sake of geopolitical game many things are made happen including financing and bringing revolutioners/"Bolsheviks-shvonders" to Russia (Who financed Lenin and Trotsky? http://www.wildboar.net/multilingual/easterneuropean/russian/literature/articles/whofinanced/whofinancedleninandtrotsky.html ),
killing Russian Tsar Nikolas II with his family (The Execution of Tsar Nicholas II, 1918  http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/nicholas.htm) , assassinating of US presidents (four sitting presidents have been killed, all of them by gunshot: Abraham Lincoln (the 16th President), James A. Garfield (the 20th President), William McKinley (the 25th President) http://www.realjewnews.com/?p=169 and John F. Kennedy (the 35th President http://www.321gold.com/editorials/schoon/schoon040108.html)  http://www.snopes.com/history/american/lincoln-kennedy.asp,  many have been the target of assassination attempts http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2005/09/assassination-attempts/304162/) and sponsorship of fascists regimes of Japan and Hitler as per following example from Winston Churchill:

"The details which I will tell you today, you will not find published in the Churchill biography. For example, you won't even find them published in Churchill's own biography because there were POWERS ABOVE HIM who were so powerful that THEY WERE ABLE TO PREVENT HIM PUBLISHING DETAILS that even he wanted to publish that he found dirty and unscrupulous about the origins of the Second World War.

For example, when I was writing my Churchill biography, I came across a lot of private papers in the files of the Time/Life organization in New York. In Columbia University, there are all the private papers of the chief editor of Time/Life, a man called Daniel Longwell.
And in there, in those papers, we find all the papers relating to the original publication of the Churchill memoirs in 1947, 1949, the great six-volume set of Churchill memoirs of the Second World War.
And I found there a letter from the pre-war German chancellor, the man who preceded Hitler, Dr. Heinrich Brüning, a letter he wrote to Churchill in August 1937.
The sequence of events was this: Dr. Brüning became the chancellor and then Hitler succeeded him after a small indistinguishable move by another man. In other words, Brüning was the man whom Hitler replaced. And Brüning had the opportunity to see who was backing Hitler. Very interesting, WHO WAS FINANCING HITLER DURING ALL THESE YEARS in the wilderness, and Brüning knew.

Brüning wrote a letter to Churchill after he had been FORCED TO RESIGN AND GO INTO EXILE in England in August 1937, setting out the NAMES AND IDENTITIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO BACKED HITLER.

And after the war, Churchill requested Brüning for permission to publish this letter in his great world history, The six-volume world history. And Brüning said NO. In his letter, Brüning wrote, 'I didn't, and do not even today for understandable reasons, wish to reveal from October 1928, the TWO LARGEST REGULAR CONTRIBUTORS TO THE NAZI PARTY were the general managers of two of the largest Berlin banks, BOTH OF JEWISH FAITH and one of them THE LEADER OF ZIONIZM IN GERMANY."

Now there is a letter from Dr. Heinrich Brüning to Churchill in 1949, explaining why he wouldn't give permission to Churchill to publish the August 1937 letter. It was an extraordinary story, out of Churchill's memoirs. Even Churchill wanted to reveal that fact!

You begin to sense the difficulties that we have in printing the TRUTH today. Churchill, of course, knew all about LIES. He was an expert in lying himself. He put a gloss on it. He would say to his friends, "The truth is such a fragile flower. The truth is so precious, it must be given a BODYGUARD OF LIES."    See  http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v07/v07p498_Okeefe.html

-  Lee Walter :"This is what the media does. Grill the conservative... provide cover for the liberals.  I was/still am a news hound.  I have watch the media over the past few decades wreck/pervert our election system. The media back then challenged /degraded the women who brought charges against Bill Clinton. Rape allegation was no big deal. The media gave him a pass.  How did the media treat Cain while he ran last election?  (Cain had an alleged affair - no rape allegations- no harassment). Why in this country if you have a lot of money - you walk away, like Bill Clinton... and all the others?" - from the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8B43JOshC4

Father of propaganda Edward Bernays was the member of the US Committee on Public Information who invented the term Public Relations and identified the intelligent manipulation of the masses as an invisible government, which is the true ruling power in a country. Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays had enormous influence on corporate and political marketing. Known as the father of public relations Bernays was a pioneer in introducing psychological concepts into the political and corporate worlds, concepts so successful it borders on mind control. Bernays work is ranging from breaking a taboo and selling cigarettes to women to selling Guatemala's leader as a communist in league with the Soviets. It goes to show how strongly people can be influenced by appealing to their unconscious desires and it is thanks to his work that today we live in a consumerist society that focuses on desire over need and places an egotistic self over a selfless collective.
See this link:  'Edward Bernays and the Art of Public Manipulation' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiKMmrG1ZKU

If you are interested in this I highly recommend watching 'The Century Of The Self': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT_edvJieEI This is one of the most Informative Documentaries Banned from YouTube by the BBC.

'The War You Don’t See' is a great movie for anyone who doesn’t live with rose colored sunglasses permanently mounted on their nose to get a glimpse of manipulative journalism that is mainstream media. I’m glad the producer also included an interview with Julian Assange in the documentary because WikiLeaks is an important part of truth spreading. Watch 'The War You Don’t See' full movie.

'The War You Don't See' is a powerful and timely investigation into the media's role in war, tracing the history of 'embedded' and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq. As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an 'electronic battlefield' in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?

John Pilger says in the film: "We journalists... have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else's country... That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is. For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home... In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us... Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power."

"The United States and the Soviet Union both used propaganda extensively during the Cold War. Both sides used film, television, and radio programming to influence their own citizens, each other, and Third World nations. The United States Information Agency operated the Voice of America as an official government station. Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, which were, in part, supported by the Central Intelligence Agency, provided grey propaganda in news and entertainment programs to Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union respectively. The Soviet Union's official government station, Radio Moscow, broadcast white propaganda, while Radio Peace and Freedom broadcast grey propaganda. Both sides also broadcast black propaganda programs in periods of special crises.

In 1948, the United Kingdom's Foreign Office created the IRD (Information Research Department), which took over from wartime and slightly post-war departments such as the Ministry of Information and dispensed propaganda via various media such as the BBC and publishing.

The ideological and border dispute between the Soviet Union and People's Republic of China resulted in a number of cross-border operations. One technique developed during this period was the "backwards transmission," in which the radio program was recorded and played backwards over the air. (This was done so that messages meant to be received by the other government could be heard, while the average listener could not understand the content of the program.)

When describing life in capitalist countries, in the US in particular, propaganda focused on social issues such as poverty and anti-union action by the government. Workers in capitalist countries were portrayed as "ideologically close". Propaganda claimed rich people from the US derived their income from weapons manufacturing, and claimed that there was substantial racism or neo-fascism in the US.

When describing life in Communist countries, western propaganda sought to depict an image of a citizenry held captive by governments that brainwash them. The West also created a fear of the East, by depicting an aggressive Soviet Union. In the Americas, Cuba served as a major source and a target of propaganda from both black and white stations operated by the CIA and Cuban exile groups. Radio Habana Cuba, in turn, broadcast original programming, relayed Radio Moscow, and broadcast The Voice of Vietnam as well as alleged confessions from the crew of the USS Pueblo.

George Orwell's novels Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four are virtual textbooks on the use of propaganda. Though not set in the Soviet Union, these books are about totalitarian regimes that constantly corrupt language for political purposes. These novels were, ironically, used for explicit propaganda. The CIA, for example, secretly commissioned an animated film adaptation of Animal Farm in the 1950s with small changes to the original story to suit its own needs.

The United States and Iraq both employed propaganda during the Iraq War. The United States established campaigns towards the American people on the justifications of the war while using similar tactics to bring down Saddam Hussein's government in Iraq.

The extent to which the US government was guilty of propaganda aimed at its own people is a matter of discussion. The book Selling Intervention & War by Jon Western argued that president Bush was "selling the war" to the public.

President George W. Bush gave a talk at the Athena Performing Arts Center at Greece Athena Middle and High School Tuesday, May 24, 2005 in Rochester, NY. About half way through the event Bush said, "See in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

People had their initial reactions to the War on Terror, but with more biased and persuading information, Iraq as a whole has been negatively targeted. America's goal was to remove Saddam Hussein's power in Iraq with allegations of possible weapons of mass destruction related to Osama Bin Laden. Video and picture coverage in the news has shown shocking and disturbing images of torture and other evils being done under the Iraqi Government."  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda

"Is America an empire? Certainly not, according to our government. Despite the conquest of two sovereign states in as many years, despite the presence of more than 750 military installations of military bases in two thirds of the world’s countries and despite his stated intention "to extend the benefits of freedom...to every corner of the world," George W. Bush maintains that "America has never been an empire." "We don’t seek empires," insists Defense Secretary Rumsfeld.

"We’re not imperialistic."Nonsense, says Niall Ferguson. In Colossus he argues that in both military and economic terms America is nothing less than the most powerful empire the world has ever seen. Just like the British Empire a century ago, the United States aspires to globalize free markets, the rule of law, and representative government. In theory it’s a good project, says Ferguson. Yet Americans shy away from the long-term commitments of manpower and money that are indispensable if rogue regimes and failed states really are to be changed for the better. Ours, he argues, is an empire with an attention deficit disorder (ADD), imposing ever more unrealistic timescales on its overseas interventions.

Worse, it’s an empire in denial—a hyper-power that simply refuses to admit the scale of its global responsibilities. And the negative consequences will be felt at home as well as abroad. In an alarmingly persuasive final chapter Ferguson warns that this chronic myopia also applies to our domestic responsibilities. When overstretch comes, he warns, it will come from within—and it will reveal that more than just the feet of the American colossus is made of clay." - from "Colossus: The Rise and Fall of the American Empire" by Niall Ferguson https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/173744.Colossus

-  Lydia389 +Howard Nema"Check Out: Clinton Body Count https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WV-bfpLnno
"Bill Clinton, while he was president and before, was quietly assassinating his associates (often anyone who got in the way of his career, such as Vince Foster). It was started as a retaliation to the Bush Body Count (which ostensibly had various members of the Bush family responsible for events like JFK assassination and the October surprise killing lesser co-conspirators on their way). The Clinton Body Count is a list of about 50–60 associates of Clinton who have died "under mysterious circumstance". The individuals named originated from a list of 34 suicides, accidental deaths, and unsolved murders[59] prepared in 1993 by the pro-gun lobby group American Justice Federation[60] which was led by Linda Thompson. The list was posted to the group's Bulletin board system.[58] (Wikipedia)

-  Errol Lowe, President at Inspired Telecom Business Services:"As long as mainstream media continue to be owned and controlled by corporations that have their own agendas then it's not likely that trust can ever be regained. The trend is moving towards independent news outlets (most of them are online) that are not beholden to corporate interests and can provide more honest information".

-  Andrew Brammeier, Interface Specialist at SCC Soft Computer:"TV was invented to sell advertising. The news is a joke as evidenced by John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. TV is for entertainment only and to trust any other epistemology on the medium is futile. Read Neil Postman."

-  Flag and HideWhitney Lopez, Video Interpreter at Sorenson Communications:"A short comment on the "short attention spans" that define our news consumption; before we can create content that manages to grab attention in this age, we must first examine what our viewers demand. As a 20-something I spend more time reading and listening to news than it would take someone to watch the 6:30 news, yet i'm consuming far more information and better curated content than the nightly news ever offered. Instead of focusing on grabbing our attention with the cheap and shocking (which is all most TV outlets know how to do) create better content that is WORTH our attention. Like you said... our attention spans may be shrinking, but it may be because our tolerance for crap is thinning."

-  Chris ViauI, SO Cat III Vibration Analyst at SKF:"TV journalism suffers its ills because it is agenda driven not fact driven. The purveyors of these agendas are not trustworthy, their bias to whatever agenda they champion makes them throw away all objectivity and become more propagandist than journalist. Give me a journalist that reports all the facts good bad or ugly."

-  Gary Roadhouse, General Manager at United Motor Freight:"It's easy to change journalists. Teach them to verify and report the facts and quit making every story they put out there colored only with their opinion."

-  Julie O., Executive Director at RegAffairsNC:"TV journalism isn't sick. It's extinct."

-  sivasubrahmanyam shatdarsanam, Asst. Secretary to Govt., (Rtd) at Govt. of Andhra Pradesh:"Do  you still believe in unbiased and fair journalism? Those days are gone. The trend is 'listen what I say...Do not say what u listen". The situation is not confined to one country or nation. It is globally accepted kind of media terrorism. Nobody bothers about them. They do not bother about anything. Just spend some prescribed time before small screen, arrange some debate inviting selected few (who have no knowledge of the issue at all) with various considerations in view, and finish off the job with a great blabber. That's all. But, I am still hopeful, a day will come when they feel responsibility and realize the fact that it is only the social orientation that can give them proper food."

-  Glenn Disney, Disney Signals LLC, FCC Commercially Licensed RF Surveys, Antenna Design & DASP:"Frankly, TV Journalism is not sick as much as corrupt and self aggrandizing. It's corrupt in the sense of what it does not report because "real news" is bounded by TV's life blood, commercials - corporate commercials. And so, the genuine news hound has no choice but to run to alternative news on the net while being lambasted by decries of "conspiracy theories" as though: 1. conspiracies cannot possibly exist 2. government is pure as the driven snow 3. corporations are even more pure than the driven snow and 4. the marriage of government and corporation is impossible. The other disturbing thing about TV news / journalism - even more disturbing than anchors' insatiable desire to verbally emphasize the "T" for trillion and the "B" for billion, as though the viewers can't possibly appreciate large numbers on their own, is the general self-absorption journalists exude; Fox News Media Buzz with Howard Kurtz being perhaps the most embarrassing example of journalists' self aggrandizing narcissism - spending 30 minutes each Sunday fawning over their own idiosyncrasies and in-house news - as though the world cannot possibly do without them."

-  Timothy Sheehy, CEO/CMO at WEBEE, LLC:"I was a major market TV news reporter and anchor for years and ultimately left because I felt the "quality journalism" you espouse was something that the average viewer just didn't seem to care about anymore. As Richard Lapin has commented - as much as we might wish it was different, it isn't. The lowest common denominator is pretty low, and pretty common. Hence, meaningless sensational trials, celebrity non-news and cat videos. Makes Geraldo Rivera look like a serious, hard- hitting journalist. Wish it were not so, but it is. National Enquirer, live at 6".

- "The Dumbing Down of America – By Design" By Joachim Hagopian "This presentation focuses on the myriad ways in which the powers-that-be in the United States have been systematically dumbing down Americans as a society for a very long time – all by meticulously calculated design. Originally the term dumbing down was used as a slang expression in 1933 by film screenwriters to mean “revising [the script] so as to appeal to those of lower education or intelligence.”.... read the rest http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-dumbing-down-of-america-by-design/5395928
